Artesia has gone a perfect 10-0 against Goddard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Artesia's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Goddard's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Artesia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Portales on Tuesday. The Bulldogs never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Katrin Marquez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Fuentes was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Whitmire, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Goddard didn't have quite enough to beat Lovington on Tuesday and fell 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered against the Wildcats since April 19, 2022.
Marisa Crawford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Roxanna Serrano was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Artesia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Goddard, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Artesia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Goddard struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
