Basketball Recap: Carbon Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Sanpete

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carbon). They walked away with a 55-48 victory over the North Sanpete Hawks on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but the Dinos were the better team in the second half.

Carbon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Curtis led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Rylee Butler also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

North Sanpete's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Schlappi, who posted 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those six boards gave Schlappi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alivia Madsen, who put up ten points.

The win made it two in a row for Carbon and bumps their season record up to 4-12. As for North Sanpete, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carbon will host Juab at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carbon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Sanpete, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the North Sanpete Hawks duke it out with the Canyon View Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon View will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something North Sanpete surely won't give up without a fight.
