Basketball Recap: Beavercreek Takes a Loss

Beavercreek suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 62-37 to the Fairmont Firebirds. While losing is never fun, the Beavers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Firebirds are ranked 19th).

Fairmont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janiyah Hargrave, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Hargrave a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylah Thornton, who went 8 of 14 en route to 17 points and six boards.

Beavercreek now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Fairmont, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beavercreek will host Springboro at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Springboro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Fairmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northmont at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
