Baseball Recap: Albany Academy for Boys Takes a Loss

Albany Academy for Boys and Troy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Albany Academy for Boys had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Flying Horses by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cadets have lost by just one run.

Willie Kimbler spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evan Derrick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Albany Academy for Boys is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10. As for Troy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
