Baseball Game Preview: Pacific Grove Breakers vs. Stevenson Pirates

For the second straight game, Pacific Grove will face off against Stevenson. The Breakers will square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last seven games Pacific Grove has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Pacific Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Stevenson and fell 3-2. The Breakers have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Brody Edmonds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ben Garry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Issac Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Stevenson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pacific Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
