Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Monument Valley Cougars

The Wayne Badgers and the Monument Valley Cougars will face off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.

Wayne took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed by Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams to the tune of 75-13. The Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.

Wayne got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ VanDyke out in front who went 8 for 9 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegyn Blackburn, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points.

Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Monument Valley faced off against Tabiona on Friday. Monument Valley lost to Tabiona on the road by a 59-42 margin.

Wayne's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Monument Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Wayne beat Monument Valley 63-55 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will Wayne repeat their success, or does Monument Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
