Volleyball Recap: Plainview-Elgin-Millville Comes Up Short

Plainview-Elgin-Millville was the 3-1 winner over St. Charles when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Fighting Saints by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville actually scored more points across those five sets (90-89), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 8-25, 16-25, 25-20, 15-5.

Willow Tlougan paced Plainview-Elgin-Millville's offense, picking up nine kills. Tlougan got some help from Laney Gusa and her 32 assists. Hadlie Eidenschink and Khloe Peter kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season. As for St. Charles, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 7-16.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville and St. Charles are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, the Bulldogs and Cotter will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The Ramblers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Plainview-Elgin-Millville surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Charles, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blooming Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
