Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is East Coweta's Fifth in Last Six Outings

If Callaway wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played East Coweta, they should've done a better job of containing Harper Rife. The East Coweta Indians took down the Callaway Cavaliers 59-45 on Saturday thanks in part to Rife, who went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Qwes Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games he's played.

Callaway's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Thomas, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. What's more, Thomas also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Aj Williams was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

East Coweta has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Callaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

East Coweta has already played their next game, an 87-49 victory against Stephenson on the 20th. As for Callaway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-39 win against Rutland on the 28th.
