Football Recap: Mojave Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Mojave has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 11.29 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell to the Clark Chargers 31-25. Despite 101 more yards than the Chargers, the Rattlers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the defeat, Mojave saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jeremya Umbles rushed for 153 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Those 153 rushing yards gave Umbles a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Mojave was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clark only rushed for 104 rushing yards.

Even if they lost, Mojave's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Derriah Wren.

Taedyn Parks was a one-woman wrecking crew for Clark as she threw for 174 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Kaynina Afemata was another key player, picking up 39 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Mojave's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Clark, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-15.

Mojave will square off against Coronado at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mojave is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.8 points per game this season. As for Clark, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 26-6 victory against Amplus Academy on the 30th.
