Baseball Recap: Priory Comes Up Short

Priory extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 back in March.

Priory saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Kovac, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That hit was Kovac's first of the season.

As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-16. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On St. Louis HomeSchool P's side, Samuel Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. Hart also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Patriots are 8-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 14-15 otherwise.

Priory has already played their next matchup, a 12-1 defeat against Burroughs on the 13th. As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Chester on the 14th.
