Football Game Preview: Lackawanna Trail Lions vs. Line Mountain Eagles

The Lackawanna Trail Lions will face off against the Line Mountain Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lackawanna Trail sitting on nine straight victories and Line Mountain on 11.

Lackawanna Trail is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tri-Valley 41-14. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Isaac Ryon produced another solid performance rushing for 319 yards and five scores while picking up 16.8 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jervis, who rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Lackawanna Trail didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Ryon and Jervis, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Meanwhile, Line Mountain's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 20-14 win over Montgomery. The 20-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The critical scores for Line Mountain came from Hank Malfara, Bryce Smeltz, and Dalton Schadel.

Lackawanna Trail's record is now 11-1. As for Line Mountain, their record now sits at 11-0.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lackawanna Trail has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 333.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Line Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 187.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
