Bowsher hasn't had much luck against Port Clinton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The BlueRacers will be playing at home against the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Bowsher has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bowsher is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against St. Ursula Academy, falling 20-1.
Bowsher saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yirsi Verdin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port Clinton). They came out on top against Vermilion by a score of 15-12 on Wednesday. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Sailors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Ashton Sanchez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sanchez was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Olivia Emerson and Kyla Buchman did most of the damage at the plate: Emerson went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Buchman went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Buchman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Belden, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Port Clinton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bowsher's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Port Clinton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-7.
Bowsher suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to Port Clinton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the BlueRacers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
