Baseball Recap: Dora's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gateway Christian, Dora was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Melrose Buffaloes by a score of 9-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Coyotes as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Timmy Neal was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Rylan Harris was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Dora: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Ashton Davis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dora's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Melrose, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Dora will face off against Floyd at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Coyotes are facing the Broncos at the right time seeing as the Broncos are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Melrose, they will square off against Magdalena at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Buffaloes will need to watch out since the Steers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
