Spring Valley and Elk Mound are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Spring Valley Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Elk Mound Mounders at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Monday, Spring Valley came up short against McDonell Central and fell 52-45.

Meanwhile, Elk Mound didn't have too much trouble with Colfax on Friday as they won 71-55. Given the Mounders' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Vikings are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elk Mound's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Spring Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Elk Mound in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 68-64 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
