Football Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Falls to Plant in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Wiregrass Ranch kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plant Panthers. The Bulls have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Daniel Terry and Jonah Gonzales certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Terry threw for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Gonzales picked up 60 receiving yards and one score.

Even if they lost, Wiregrass Ranch's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In that department, Brodie Hamilton was the leader with two. Another thorn in Plant's side was Bret Marinko, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Plant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tripp Brown, who threw for 142 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. What's more, Brown racked up 20 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dillon Rose-Bailey, who rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Looking ahead, Wiregrass Ranch will face off against Clearwater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Plant, they will square off against Gaither at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
