Baseball Recap: Mountain View Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Mountain View won the last time they faced Meridian and things went their way on Friday too. Mountain View never let Meridian get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cade Burnham and Cooper Schneidt were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Burnham struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Schneidt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burnham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Burnham scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Schneidt scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Schneidt a new career-high.

In other batting news, Braylon Schellhammer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Hecox, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Meridian dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will host Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Mountain View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Meridian, they will venture away from home to face off against Owyhee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owyhee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Meridian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
