Softball Recap: West End's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West End walked away with it. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Sumiton Christian Eagles on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won four games in a row.

Emma Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addie Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Nix, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

West End's win bumped their record up to 26-11. As for Sumiton Christian, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 28-21-1.

West End will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
