Basketball Recap: Valley Rams vs. Handley Tigers
The Valley Rams came tearing into Monday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Handley 78-62. Given Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Tigers are ranked 166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Cam?ron Dooley was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Valley's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Handley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.
