Basketball Recap: Amiya Ulmar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Silsbee over Madisonville

Silsbee and Madisonville squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Silsbee had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Madisonville Mustangs by a score of 63-60. The Tigers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Silsbee's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amiya Ulmar, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ulmar a new career-high in blocks (eight). Another player making a difference was Jena Warden, who posted 19 points and four steals.

Silsbee's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Madisonville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Silsbee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Madisonville, they will face off against Hamshire-Fannett at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hamshire-Fannett comes in on four and Madisonville on five.
