Softball Game Preview: Arrowhead Christian Eagles vs. Linfield Christian Lions

Arrowhead Christian is 2-8 against Linfield Christian since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Lions at 3:30 p.m.

Arrowhead Christian played against Aquinas on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Arrowhead Christian will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Linfield Christian extended their winning streak to six on Thursday. The Lions blew past Ontario Christian 11-5. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alexa Ojeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Linfield Christian let Chloe Hill and Charli Calas run wild. Hill went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Calas got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Hill a new career-high. Danica Perez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Linfield Christian pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arrowhead Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Arrowhead Christian might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Linfield Christian when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
