Baseball Recap: Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau dropped their record down to 10-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Holmen Vikings, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Red Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adain Busch, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Holmen, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Holmen's side, they got a great performance from Paul Goryl as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Goryl has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joe Meeter was incredible, firing off three triples, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Mashak, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau will venture away from home to take on West Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Holmen, they will square off against D.C. Everest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Evergreens will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
