Soccer Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota vs. Venice

The Riverview Sarasota Rams will challenge the Venice Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverview Sarasota is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They beat North Port by a goal, winning 3-2. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bobcats are ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverview Sarasota hit North Port with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emily Simone, Laci Young, and Olivia Shkorupa.

Meanwhile, while the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Venice who was credited with the win on Monday. Venice got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Sarasota's six.

Riverview Sarasota has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those five games. As for Venice, they now have a winning record of 8-7-3.

Everything went Riverview Sarasota's way against Venice in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Riverview Sarasota made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverview Sarasota since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
