Softball Recap: Sequoia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Terra Nova

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sequoia). They were the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over the Terra Nova Tigers on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Jada Crockett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Crockett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mehta Nisha was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gottshall Annika (Annie), who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.

Sequoia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terra Nova only managed three hits.

Sequoia's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Terra Nova, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoia will venture away from home to face off against Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Terra Nova, they will head out to take on Presentation at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
