Basketball Recap: Rihana Crowl's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sunnybrook Christian over School of the Woods

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sunnybrook Christian can now relate to. They fell to the School of the Woods Wildcats 25-21. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it 12 in a row.

Sunnybrook Christian lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rihana Crowl, who posted ten points and three steals. That was a full 47.6% of Sunnybrook Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row Crowl has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Davina Crowl, who earned seven points.

School of the Woods was led to victory by Sarah DeZevallos and Leah Salvatierra. DeZevallos dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 steals, while Salvatierra had six points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. Salvatierra has become a key player for School of the Woods: the team is undefeated when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 8-10 otherwise. Kate Checo-Leckova was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Sunnybrook Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for School of the Woods, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

As of now, neither Sunnybrook Christian nor School of the Woods have any future games scheduled.
