            Softball Recap: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. Prout Crusaders        
        
		
        
        
            Ponaganset had lost three straight at home, but  on Sunday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it four. They lost  13-3 to the Prout Crusaders. If the Chieftains were looking for revenge after losing  9-5 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in June of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
  Maia Salvo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  home run and two  runs.  Mia Duncan was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with one  run and one  double.
As for Prout, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record  this season. They not only won  on Sunday, but they posted their biggest win  since April 16th (when they won  12-1).
On Prout's side,  Megan Gardiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
 At the plate,  Rachel Dias and  Kelsea Flaherty did most of the damage at the plate:  Dias  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI, while  Flaherty  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with one  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Those  three  hits gave  Dias a new career-high.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ponaganset will  square off against  rival Coventry  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Prout is set to  take on  their familiar foe Smithfield  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
