Volleyball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Starts off Right with Win over Newnan

St. Anne-Pacelli took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Newnan Cougars. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won five matches in a row dating back to last season.

St. Anne-Pacelli was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (103-89), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 12-25, 12-25, 15-13.

St. Anne-Pacelli was led to victory by Malia Resnick and Elly Jane Haag. Resnick had six aces, while Haag had five aces. Those six aces gave Resnick a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: St. Anne-Pacelli was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Anne-Pacelli will venture away from home to take on Pike County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newnan, they will take on Heard County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
