Softball Recap: Lampeter-Strasburg Find Success

While Lampeter-Strasburg's victory against Ephrata wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Mountaineers 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Mountaineers: they've now won three in a row.

Natalie Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lampeter-Strasburg's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lily Kuhns, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Lampeter-Strasburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Lampeter-Strasburg pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ephrata, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Lampeter-Strasburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Governor Mifflin on the 17th. As for Ephrata, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-11 victory against Lebanon on the 21st.
