Cornerstone Charter suffers third straight loss at home

Recap: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. Piedmont Classical Bobcats

This season hasn't been kind to the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were dealt a 64-32 defeat at the hands of Piedmont Classical on Friday. Cornerstone Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylen Williamson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Williamson scored a full 62.5% of Cornerstone Charter's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Piedmont Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ge'Kayla Goins, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 steals. The match was Goins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marti Holley, who scored 9 points along with 11 steals and 5 assists.

Cornerstone Charter has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 0-5 record. As for Piedmont Classical, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.

Cornerstone Charter will head out on the road to face off against Bethany at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Piedmont Classical, they will be playing at home against College Prep & Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
