Basketball Game Preview: Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES vs. Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs

The Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES will face off against the Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Roanoke Valley Christian is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Temple Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders.

Meanwhile, Westover Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy on Tuesday and fell 48-46.

Roanoke Valley Christian will need focus on slowing down Braden Hundley, one of several Westover Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Hundley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Silas Zeidler, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Westover Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Roanoke Valley Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Westover Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.

Roanoke Valley Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Westover Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 44-33.
