Softball Recap: Calloway County Has No Trouble Against Murray

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Trigg County, Calloway County was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Murray Tigers 10-2. The win continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Hailee Jones made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Audrey Overbey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lyla Ward was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Calloway County's record now sits at 4-23. As for Murray, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Calloway County will head out to square off against Massac County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Murray, they will host Ballard Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
