Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Olmsted Falls' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Olmsted Falls won the last time they faced Austintown-Fitch and things went their way on Saturday too. The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs strolled past the Austintown-Fitch Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Falcons are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Austintown-Fitch's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Spalding, who posted 13 points and three steals. Spalding is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Liz Spalding, who scored eight points and five boards.

Olmsted Falls is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. Austintown-Fitch's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Olmsted Falls beat Austintown-Fitch by a score of 61-43 later that day.
