Softball Recap: North Providence Cougars vs. Barrington Eagles

North Providence extended their losing streak to 14 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Barrington Eagles, falling 19-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Adrianna Fortin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Idalia Rivera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Barrington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Barrington's side, Maya Etheridge (2026) was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Etheridge (2026) has posted since back in April. Aislinn McCoy (2025) was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

North Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barrington, they will head out to take on Tiverton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
