Basketball Recap: Highland Park Hornets vs. Memphis Cyclones
Highland Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Memphis Cyclones. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-51 back in December of 2024.
Abel Villa went supernova for Memphis, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Villa a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Armando Saenz, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.
Highland Park's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Memphis, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-10.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Clarendon the next time they take the court. Highland Park will host Clarendon at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while Memphis will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on January 31st.
