Baseball Recap: Hebron Hawks vs. Hammond Central Wolves

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Hebron ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Hammond Central Wolves. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won six in a row.

Zac Peeler made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Carter Riley was excellent, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hebron's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
