Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the Riverside Warriors. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (55), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

Bryer Mullins was his usual excellent self, to rack up 30 points and eight rebounds for Riverside. Those eight boards gave Mullins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Coles, who posted seven points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Riverside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will host Liberty at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will square off against Ripley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
