Soccer Game Preview: Kodiak vs. Houston

The Kodiak Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Houston Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kodiak's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Kodiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Redington, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Kodiak was ranked 22nd). The Bears and the Huskies finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw on Saturday. The result (or lack thereof) marked Kodiak's first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Houston's offense. They came up short against Kenai Central on Saturday, falling 3-0. Houston have struggled against Kenai Central recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-3. Kodiak's draw gives them a new season record of 2-4-1.

Kodiak skirted past Houston 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
