Basketball Recap: Service Falls Short Against Ranked Monroe Catholic

On Saturday, Service faced Monroe Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Service Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Monroe Catholic Rams. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 43-33 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Service saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aryanna Watson posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sialeia Silva, who earned nine points.

Service has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Monroe Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Service will welcome Chugiak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Monroe Catholic and Hutchison will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another on January 30th.
