Football Game Preview: Wells vs. Independence

Wells will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Independence at 7:00 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the teams both put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up.

Wells got themselves on the board against McDermitt last Friday, but McDermitt never followed suit. Everything came up roses for Wells against McDermitt as the squad secured a 78-0 victory. Senior Zane Rodriguez, who passed for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in Wells's success. Rodriguez has been a consistent playmaker for Wells as this was the 5th good game in a row from him.

Meanwhile, Independence have had to suffer through a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their match against Owyhee by a conclusive 47-16 score. Independence were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Wells simply couldn't be stopped the last time the two teams met, as they easily beat Independence 54-14. Will Wells repeat their success, or does Independence have a better game plan this time around ? We'll find out soon enough.
