Basketball Recap: Miclo Ayala's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ash Fork over Rock Point

Ash Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 48-38 to the Rock Point Cougars. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Ash Fork lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Miclo Ayala, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Jesus Ayala was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 13 points.

Ash Fork now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Rock Point, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, Ash Fork will welcome Shonto Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rock Point, they will head out on the road to take on Rough Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Cougars' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
