League recap: Central extends winning streak with victory over Momence

Central extended the longest winning streak in Sangamon Valley this week by beating Momence, 26-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

St. Joseph-Ogden made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,416 from 2,772. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-23 victory over Aurora Central Catholic last week.

The Spartans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dalton Walsh threw for 189 and three touchdowns and Louis Acklin had 62 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Hedrick chipped in 114 yards. Clayton Slifer helped St. Joseph-Ogden's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.

St. Thomas More's Strom Joop and Kevin Carroll have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Joop has thrown for 1429 yards this season, while Carroll, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 36 catches for 938 yards. The Redskins' Deandre Wright leads the league in rushing yards with 2115.

St. Joseph-Ogden led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Chargers. Walsh ran for 12 yards in the win.
