Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson County Patriots vs. Science Hill Hilltoppers

Jefferson County hasn't had much luck against Science Hill recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jefferson County Patriots just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Science Hill Hilltoppers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Jefferson County strolled past Knoxville Central with points to spare, taking the game 59-44. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Bobcats are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Science Hill had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They took down the Fighting Cyclones 68-52.

Jefferson County has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Science Hill, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Things could have been worse for Jefferson County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Science Hill when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Jefferson County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
