Basketball Game Preview: Severna Park Falcons vs. Arundel Wildcats

The Severna Park Falcons will challenge the Arundel Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Severna Park took on Northeast on Thursday. Severna Park snuck past Northeast with a 57-53 win. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Arundel earned a 71-59 win over Northeast on Monday.

Severna Park better focus on containing Ellis Johnson and Javeon Reed as the pair were huge in Arundel's win. Johnson went 10-for-19 to rack up 33 points and five rebounds, while Reed went 7-for-17 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Johnson has become a key player for Arundel: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least 15 points, but 7-8 otherwise.

Severna Park's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Arundel, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.

Severna Park skirted past Arundel 55-52 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Reed, who went 10-for-21 on his way to 25 points along with seven assists and six steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Severna Park still be able to contain Reed? There's only one way to find out.
