Baseball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. Liberty Center Tigers

The Patrick Henry Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Liberty Center Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Patrick Henry has three straight victories, Liberty Center has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Patrick Henry beats Liberty Center with five runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Patriots walked away with a 5-2 win over Ayersville on Saturday.

Cal Schroeder made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Schroeder wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Schwab, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Schwab has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Liberty Center came up short against Wayne Trace on Saturday, falling 7-1. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Liberty Center now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Patrick Henry, their record is now 3-6.

Patrick Henry couldn't quite finish off Liberty Center in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
