Basketball Recap: St. Anne's-Belfield Piles Up the Points Against Collegiate

St. Anne's-Belfield waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Collegiate Cougars 82-55. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

St. Anne's-Belfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chance Mallory, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten assists. Mallory's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danzelle Bullock Coles, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards.

St. Anne's-Belfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 8.4 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.5.

Despite the loss, Collegiate still got an impressive performance from Xay Davis, who posted nine points and three steals. Aidan Gregory was another key player, putting up ten points.

St. Anne's-Belfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Collegiate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
