Basketball Recap: West Point Skates Past Desert Ridge with Ease

West Point posted their biggest win since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past the Desert Ridge Jaguars 68-32. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Jaguars are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading West Point to victory were Dewey Henry and Samuel Kalikilwa. Henry went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points, while Kalikilwa went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Davis, who posted eight points.

West Point smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

West Point's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Desert Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

West Point wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 78-45 win against Skyline on the 17th. As for Desert Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-50 loss against Casteel on the 12th.
