Softball Game Preview: Dixon Rams vs. Sutter Huskies

The Dixon Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Sutter Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dixon will be strutting in after a win while Sutter will be coming in after a loss.

Dixon gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Woodland 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dakota Gaball spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Dixon got a massive performance out of Olivia Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Rachael Cayabyab, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sutter came up short against Rio Linda on Tuesday and fell 6-3. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kara Roper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Dixon and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sutter, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Dixon was able to grind out a solid victory over Sutter when the teams last played back in March, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
