Softball Recap: River Falls Comes Up Short

River Falls made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wausau West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 9th.

AUDRA ADERMANN was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, River Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AVA LARSEN, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. MORGAN KIVEL also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

River Falls now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Wausau West, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Coming up, River Falls will face off against Wausau East at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Lumberjacks at the right time seeing as the Lumberjacks are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Wausau West, they will square off against Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
