Baseball Game Preview: Marmion Cadets vs. Leo Lions

For the second straight game, Marmion will face off against Leo. The Cadets will welcome the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Marmion made easy work of Leo and carried off a 15-4 win. The Cadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Jack Hughes and Ben Gudenrath dominated on the mound. Hughes pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Gudenrath pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matthew Tulley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Ronan O'Connor was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Marmion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The last time their OBP was this high was April 1st.

Marmion pushed their record up to 12-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
