Preview: Canyon Comanches vs. Yorba Linda Mustangs
Canyon is 10-0 against Yorba Linda since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Canyon Comanches on the road again and play against the Yorba Linda Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Canyon is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yorba Linda in California (Canyon is ranked 39th, while Yorba Linda is ranked 280th).
Last Tuesday, Canyon was able to grind out a solid win over Villa Park, taking the game 52-45.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Staf Yilmazturk, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Josh Goodall was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, Yorba Linda's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Foothill 48-43.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Yorba Linda, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Canyon beat Yorba Linda 51-41 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canyon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
