Preview: Windsor Central Black Knights vs. Johnson City Wildcats

The Windsor Central Black Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Johnson City Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Windsor Central is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Johnson City in New York (Windsor Central is ranked 125th, while Johnson City is ranked 406th).

Last Friday, Windsor Central was the victim of a tough 42-22 defeat at the hands of Norwich.

Windsor Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Mccombs, who rushed for 189 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and Ashton Werner who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Mccombs' longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Johnson City were a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 49-6 loss at the hands of Maine-Endwell. Johnson City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

The losses dropped Windsor Central to 6-2 and Johnson City to 2-5.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Windsor Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 267.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Johnson City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 151.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Windsor Central strolled past Johnson City when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 40-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windsor Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
